Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 July 2026
This privacy policy is provided in English, which is the authoritative version.
1. Summary
Practice AI is a browser extension that processes audio entirely on your device. Your audio is never uploaded to us or any third party. We collect the minimum information needed to run an account and process payments.
2. Audio & on-device processing
All audio analysis — slow-down, pitch shift, key detection, vocal reduction, EQ, effects and AI stem separation — runs locally in your browser. We do not receive, store, or have access to any audio you play or process.
3. What information we collect
Information you provide to us:
- Account details: if you create an account, your email address and password are collected by Firebase Authentication (Google). We never see your password — Firebase stores it as a secure hash. Your email address is used as your account identifier.
- Support requests: if you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically when you use paid features:
- Purchase and license data: purchases are handled by our payment processor, Freemius. We do not see or store your card details. Freemius provides us your license status, plan, and the email associated with the purchase, which we record to activate your license.
- License token: a signed license token and your plan are stored locally in the extension to unlock paid features.
Information collected only if you opt in:
- Product analytics: analytics are off by default. If you turn them on in settings, anonymous usage events (e.g. which feature was opened), identified only by a random locally-generated ID, are sent to PostHog together with basic technical context (extension version, coarse platform). No audio, no page content, and no content of what you play is ever included.
Information processed on your device only and never transmitted:
- Audio you play, media timing used to keep playback in sync, your practice settings (speed, key, loops, EQ, effects), and cached processing data. None of this leaves your browser.
4. How we use your information
We use the information above only to:
- Provide your account: authenticate you and associate your license with your email address.
- Process purchases and licensing: confirm a purchase, issue a signed license token, and unlock the paid features you bought.
- Improve the product: if — and only if — you opted in to analytics, we analyse anonymous usage events to understand which features are used and where the product can improve.
- Provide support: respond to questions or deletion requests you send us.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness or lending purposes, and we do not sell it — ever.
5. Where your information is stored, security and retention
- On your device: settings, your plan, the license token and cached data are stored locally in your browser via the extension's storage. Clearing the extension's data or uninstalling it removes them.
- On our servers: account credentials are stored by Firebase Authentication, and license/entitlement records are stored in Google Cloud Firestore (Google data centres, United States). Billing records are stored by Freemius on their infrastructure. Opt-in analytics events are stored by PostHog (US cloud).
- Security: all data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). License unlocks use cryptographically signed tokens. Server-side data is hosted by the providers above with industry-standard protections, and access is restricted to what is needed to operate the service.
- Retention: account and license data are kept for as long as your account or license is active, and deleted when you request deletion. Opt-in analytics events are kept only as long as needed for product analysis and are deleted on request. Local data persists until you clear it or uninstall the extension.
6. How we share your information
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers. Information is shared only with the service providers below, solely so they can perform services for us:
- Firebase / Google Cloud (Google LLC) — account authentication and license/entitlement storage. See Google's privacy policy.
- Freemius, Inc. — checkout, billing and license management. See Freemius's privacy policy.
- PostHog, Inc. — optional, opt-in product analytics (off by default). See PostHog's privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users or the public. If Practice AI is ever involved in a merger or acquisition, users will be notified before their data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
7. Your rights and choices
- Access, correction, deletion: you can request a copy of, a correction to, or the deletion of your account and license data at any time by emailing us at the address below. We honour deletion requests for all the data we control, including analytics events.
- Analytics: analytics are off by default and can be switched off at any time in the extension's settings.
- Subscription: you can cancel your subscription at any time through the Freemius customer portal.
- Local data: uninstalling the extension or clearing its data removes everything stored on your device.
8. Children
Practice AI is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be posted on this page with a new date.
